Coaching Staff
Francis Gavin, Head Varsity Coach
Head Coach Gavin is now in his 12th year as the varsity girls’ basketball coach at West Morris Central. Coach has won over 200 career games and has a Tournament of Champions appearance. Before assuming the reigns as head coach, he served as the JV/Varsity assistant for three years. Gavin teaches Latin in the West Morris Regional High School District and officiates high school soccer in the fall and women's collegiate and high school lacrosse in the spring.
Meghan Wendt, Junior Varsity & Assistant Varsity Coach
Katie Patella, Freshman Coach
Coach Wendt graduated from Boston University with a degree in Mathematics. Before joining the math department at West Morris Central, she taught in the Boston area for two years before returning to New Jersey to teach at Jefferson High School. Prior to joining Coach Gavin’s staff, Wendt served as the Freshman Girls coach at Jefferson. She is an alumna of West Morris Central, having played on the 2005 team that won the conference championship and went to the state sectional championship game. This will be her third year coaching the girls' junior varsity and assisting Coach Gavin at the varsity level.
Coach Patella graduated Hillsborough High School where she played basketball and softball. She then attended Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia where she played collegiate softball. Coach Patella graduated in December of 2014 and began teaching English at West Morris Central in January. This will be her third year coaching the girls’ freshman squad.
